Frequently asked questions

Which file types does PDF Juicer support?

PDF files for compression and extraction. Images can be exported as PNG or JPEG, text as TXT or RTF, and links as CSV.

What are the system requirements?

macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later. Apple Silicon and Intel Macs are both supported.

Does PDF Juicer upload my files to the internet?

No. Everything happens on-device, inside Apple's sandbox. PDF Juicer does not make any network requests — your files stay on your Mac.

How do the three compression profiles differ?

Light aims for near-lossless quality with modest size savings. Medium is the balanced default. Strong trades visual fidelity for the smallest possible file. You can also create custom profiles with the live quality slider.

How do I set up Folder Watch?

Open PDF Juicer, switch to the Folder Watch tab, click "Add Folder", grant access to a directory of your choice, and pick a compression profile. New PDFs added to that folder are compressed automatically.

How does the Finder Quick Action work?

Right-click any PDF in Finder → Quick Actions → "Compress with PDF Juicer". If the Quick Action does not appear, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Extensions → Finder, and make sure PDF Juicer is enabled.

Can I automate PDF Juicer with Shortcuts?

Yes. PDF Juicer exposes App Intents for compression and extraction. Open the Shortcuts app, add a "Compress with PDF Juicer" action, and feed it a PDF from any other shortcut step.

The output PDF is the same size as the input — why?

PDF Juicer detects PDFs that are already optimal and skips reprocessing them rather than inflating them with extra metadata. If you want to force reprocessing, switch to a stronger profile or open a custom profile with a lower quality target.

Is there a refund policy?

Refunds for Mac App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and choose your PDF Juicer purchase to request a refund.

I found a bug — what's the best way to report it?

Email csieb@me.com with: macOS version, PDF Juicer version, a short description of what happened, and (if relevant) a sample PDF that reproduces the issue.
